Vergil Ibryam, Integro Association

Author

On April 4, 2025, the Bulgarian NGOs Integro Association and the Equal Opportunities Initiative signed a Memorandum of Understanding affirming their mutual commitment to countering hate speech, hate crime, and antigypsyism both online and in everyday life. The agreement forms part of the broader efforts under the European project “Together against anti-Gypsyism online (TAAO).”

As a national partner in the TAAO initiative, the Integro Association has taken a leading role in Bulgaria. Through its network of activists and volunteers, it has identified, documented, and raised awareness about antigypsyism content in digital environments, including social media and online media outlets. The organization has been instrumental in mobilizing public and institutional support for the fight against antigypsyism.

The Memorandum also marks a significant gesture of support from lawyer Daniela Mihaylova, Chairwoman of the Equal Opportunities Initiative. Mihaylova has not only expressed endorsement of Integro’s advocacy efforts within the TAAO framework but has also offered legal support in cases requiring judicial assistance. Her involvement adds further institutional backing to the TAAO project's implementation in Bulgaria.

This partnership contributes to the long-term vision of establishing a strong and sustained coalition dedicated to equality, human rights, and the empowerment of Roma communities across Europe. The cooperation between Integro and the Equal Opportunities Initiative underlines the importance of national-level engagement in tackling digital antigypsyism and creating inclusive public discourse.
